OK - so where is their reps (aka goons)? No more card checks?
DE,299 has cartage in on ANY day at any time if we are busy (most of the time, sometimes every day of the week,including saturdays). nobody is on layoff and we get plenty of overtime, we just dont have enough people moving the freight to our customers even with the largest #'s ever on the board.
No card checks anymore? Just anybody with a truck can come and go - union - nonunion, nobody cares? Just slap a phony company style sticker on the door, hook up to a trailer, and go.
No wonder trailers disappear.
infact we have trailers coming and going from our yard all day from not only cartage but our shop work is being outsourced, trailers and trucks..i see trailers coming and going all day every day for that as well, supposedly theyve cut shop overtime to 0 in advance of the mechanic contract negotiations.
Again, I say, no wonder trailers disappear. No gate guard checking papers or ID? or writing down trlr numbers and checking with dispatch?
Like taking candy from babies. Just drive into yard with inside info on which trlr has high dollar frt on it - easy pickins.

Good. He got caught, but how many do not? I recall quite a few years ago when two Holland trailers full of ATV's disappeared from a drop lot in eastern TN. Nothing ever found . Inside job there, too? Quite possibly.
Right they don't sell it ,but at a lot of barn's that is what is happening to get freight picked up !! because they can't hire nobody because we are the lowest starting pay scale and no pension !!
You are mistaken! We can hire people.....they can only drive automatics.....kind of and if their GPS breaks down they have to pull over to the shoulder and call someone for directions.....and teeth are optional......but we can hire people!
No Henry not just anybody can slap a sticker on a rig a steal from us. First off our switchers are always watching for any PTS and procedures are in place when entering our premise. You sure assume a lot of failures not to ever have worked here. Come on man things aren't that bad. Give it a rest.
you are mistaken, with their lower hiring standards i think they can keep hiring and firing at whatever level they so choose, with only 3 yrs in myself i have probably closing in on 70 people BELOW me in seniority on the board or soon to be on the board.
