So when are the freight sleds going to be used? Are they going to build new terminals for them, if so where is the money coming from?

Heard from an ABF driver last week that they are testing them in elkhart now, bunch of engineers on the dock working out the kinks right now. He said they get a prompt or what skid to move and where to put it. He said multiple people move the same bill of freight, might have you move the first skid of a bill then to a closer trailer to move a different bill.

Anyone have a picture of one of these sled?
Seems there would be some tie-downs.
But they will still fall. Sounds like it would be a pain to pick it up if they fall over.

No pic. Just wondering what these things look like. They sound ridiculous. To tell the truth.

Thanks. That's brand new. Wait about six months. Lol.
It's just makes no sense. Unload a trailer? Or sled?
What's the saving? Savings? Seems they will leave alot of trailer space unused.

P. S.
Now that I see one loaded. Ya. Wasted space. Not that it looks bad or stacked wrong.

Looks like 12 skid placements. What happened to high and tight.

The main thing behind all this imho, is to do as much or more as now with less trailers. In the training video's they say a trailer should only be the dock for around 15mins. Pull a loaded sled out shove one in put the trailer back on the road. Also with some of the long ugly freight they take on, it easier to load/unload from the side of the sleds.

How much weight can they put on 1 of those?

We used to get castings for rock-crushers for the mines around here going 5,000 lbs.......and steel tank ends that looked like large nested bowls....as wide as the trailer......hard to put in a roll-door.

Just those two items alone,....I could see wrecking a sled. I would guess the "oddball" items would have to be floor-loaded in front of the sled.
