It happens and its always tough.
I used to check for hobos and vagrants under the trailer tandems against the dock before moving the rig. They get killed occasionally or worse when you pull out in the morning.

And another death that could have maybe had a chance to been prevented had FedEx decided that in states where concealed carry is allowed, drivers could choose to arm themselves. I guess it’s just easier to release a canned corporate statement and put some more black ribbons on the back of trailers like we did for Indy a few months ago…
But hey, you don’t need to protect yourself…nothing has ever happened to those corporate guys since they aren’t armed at all…just the guys in close proximity to them are the ones packing..
