Ice in baton rouge?

I believe there was this past week - was checking the weather early this week for the next night and places as far down as Central Mississippi were calling for snow, sleet, and some ice..

Don't think that's the real issue here though - hope the driver makes a full recovery and genuinely feel awful for any co-worker, or driver for that matter involved in an accident like that.. Couldn't imagine it..

I feel some sympathy for all you guys from the deep south that rarely, if ever see any snow or ice, let alone have to drive in it.

I drive in it for half a year, every year, and although the first major snow sets off the shock alarm, it doesn't take long for last years instincts to take over.

I don't think it takes a different skill set to drive in it, it just takes a different state of mind.

Hell, some people that lived here all their life still can't drive in it so it is no surprise that some that rarely see it have problems driving in it also.

My prayers go out to him and his family. Really hope he has a better xmas and is allowed to keep his career with con-way,but highly doubt that will happen with con-ways safety program.

Hey Guys, I know the driver who wrecked. A good guy. Glad to hear he made it out of the truck alive. Hate it for who ever was going to get that truck next year!!!

Saw these pictures Friday morning, by far the worst wreck I've seen where the driver made it!! I know the driver, meet him at the MS State Truck-Driving Championship. Conway is going to lose a great driver! And hate it for who ever was getting that truck next year, looks like it will be retired!!

Not only that he made it to the nationals a coiple of years ago. And as far as the truck goes, it was headed to NMP for next year. But not mine.

Why would he get fired? There wasnt a fatality and he didnt roll it over. This is where the "rollevor" rule is BS. Im not saying anything bad about this driver and i DO hope he has a full recovery. BUT I can run into the back of a schoolbus full of kids run into the side of a house knocking it off its foundation all at the same time bouncing off a dozen cars and as long as nobody dies.... I get to keep my job. HOWEVER....... If i hit some slush in the raod and my set slides into the ditch and lays onto its side. Im automaticaly termionated???? Im not worried about any of that happening. I consider myself a safe driver. But it can happen to the best of us.

Retired??? With that set back front axle and custom A/C it will make a great city truck.

you might want to go back and read the policy a little closer. and the back box rolled

It is a DOT reportable accident and will garner CSA2010 points against the company...

Something they will have none of...

Driver is history.

A D.O.T. reportable accident does not automatically create points within CSA 2010 for a carrier.
and... if this involved a rollover of equipment, termination is not automatic. Current company statistics show 55% of employees going through the ETRB process (employee termination review board) retain their job.

I'll bet that if you limit it to DSR's, the percentage is a lot lower.
