Yellow | Closing terminal

"None of the affected employees have bumping rights in connection with the closure pursuant to a collective bargaining agreement or otherwise."

That doesn't sound right.

It might be. If it's just a terminal closure and not part of a change of operations. I think that could vary by region.

Maybe a regional thing.
But if Yellow owns terminals which will get that terminals freight, it would seem that they should be allowed to follow the work.

Is it a Holland or Yellow terminal or does that make a difference.

Then again...when Holland closed here....they did not bump into New Penn. They started on bottom.
Did YRC own them all then...or was it still seperate...Roadway/New Penn......who owned USF....YRC? After the Yellow/Roadway merge?
YRC bought USF after they bought Roadway.

If closing of terminal is before the COO is implemented ( If approved) would be different if done after the change..
Looks like One Yellow only applies if it benefit's Yellow.
The works got to go somewhere and the workers should be allowed to follow it.
They're just covering their ass for job loss over 50 people with the state.

It appears that Milwaukee is going to lose a lot of jobs, and Akron-211 is going to lose a lot of jobs too as the Holland Akron barn is closing and Yellow is forcing all local cartage (city, dock, yard) employees to have a CDL. No CDL and you're not qualified to work any more? WTF! Hey Union Officials wake up and stop this B.S. at the next change of ops hearing!:burnsauce:

Yes.
And Holland did not bump when they closed in the Northeast. Not into the northeastern YRC companies anyways.
They did get hired on but in the bottom. I don't know if it was a contractual right or the hires were due to expected freight increase.

I doubt there was a contractual obligation to hire them but the union probably pressured them to hire them.

Wow, the Milwaukee was a pretty big barn , about 180 employees , this Yeller way is amazing and Patel 1st prediction was that about 15% of the barns would close under merger plan , but that estimate maybe a little low ? Key question whats the Union respond to this ??

According to what I've just read, it is the Holland terminal #386 that is closing. Make no mistake about this: some of the blame belongs to some of the rank-and-file folks who think this is a garden party. But, the vast majority of the blame lies with terribly flawed decisions by the "glass house gang". Shucks, even the glass house is gone!! They have been making a mess of this company for about 20 years now, although the occupant of the corner office has changed a few times. Common sense has gone out the window, arrogance is the order of the day, and they had better be glad their name isn't Pinnochio. Their nose would stretch to the moon!

I spoke to a recruiter today about a line haul position in Rockford. But Google maps only shows a closed terminal by the airport. What gives?

lol I think is west coast guys have been warning you all for many months now. Strap in it’s gonna get a lot worse. Shrinkage is coming down everywhere. SLC lost over 50 drivers. Portland lost around 40 drivers. It’s all change of operations. It’s gonna be a very hard thing on a lot of families. And the union doesn’t do anything but go with it. So take care and hold on…

Didn’t most of those drivers leave? I know Memphis sent drivers to the west coast to help but only slow down till now.

The Holland workers in Wheeling and McCook are getting screwed too they should be merged onto 309's seniority list!

And yet again, Contract language protecting members of this was removed by TNFINC in negotiations years ago, and "some Teamsters" say it was not needed anymore since SAIA was spun-off on its own. The "Double-Breasting" protections in the NMFA would apply to this. NEVER vote for something in a Contract to be removed! years later, it would have stopped a terminal for one company being closed while another one keep on working serving the same area...SMH

How would double breasting protection apply here? I'm not sure I understand.
