Well....the first day is done. All I can say is WOW. An all day session of outdated videos:1036316054:

Cant wait for more tomorrow. And the paperwork was refreshing too. I was basically signing papers for a solid hour.

Tomorrow starts forklift training and set hooking training "their way"

I was also told that somwhere around my 90 day mark, we would be going to Ann Arbor, MI for "orientation" This upset me greatly because I have a fear of flying:hide:

Not sure how this will play out though. I guess I will have to bring some Horse tranquilizers with me and pop them before takeoff.:funky:

Good luck to me

you will have to go to ann arbor for a weekend, but its not 90 days, more like 9 months.
good luck

Congratulations on your first day! Hopefully you did not watch a Mike Singletary video. That has been banned!
Did they ditch you in the training room and check in once in awhile to see if you were still alive?

Hopefully you read the part where your first two weeks of pay go to United Way charity.

Wear your backbelt, lift from the knees, use momentum to move the heavy dolley. Follow the 10 little Indians as a check.

In a perfect world it would be 90 days. You don't have to fly the friendly skies. You have the option to stay grounded and drive or even take the train. They will pay for the train and up to the cost of an airline ticket to drive.

Make sure your insurance policy is up to date.:tongue0015:

Remember, it's what you make out of it, despite the negatives you hear. Stay positive and you will succeed and wonder why you stayed with DHL that long.

You weren't supposed to watch that video.
(He refers to Mike B. and the rest of the old gang that no longer work for Con-way)
It was replaced with something else. You wasted your life watching this motivational speaker read que cards. :hysterical: No big deal, you get paid for it anyway :1036316054:

Those are the options unless you live too far to drive. They don't always tell you that unless you are strongly against flying.

Ask for pens, there are more perks to the job. You'll find out later on.

Keep us posted on your two week training period. Linehaul training will be the ultimate test of endurance for the newbie!!

Yea we are getting metal clipboards w/ the abloys and pens inside next week:1036316054:

As far as training, we do city at the end of this week, and linehaul next week.

It will be interesting and Im sure I will be comfortable with it. I just want to get behind the wheel as much as the trainer will let me.

Ill keep you posted.

A new employee is always conways best friend, learn to bend over and grab your ankles, it will come in handy on down the road! :Bondage: :Poke: :chairshot:

Hey Clearback, or anybody for that matter
it's none of my business but they fly you to Michigan from Maine? Why? Is that mandatory with all new hires at the 90 day mark? I would think the oreintation would be prior to getting hired. Very interested in this, please tell us more bout this :smilie_132:
Good luck by the way

Its not at 90 days like I thought...Its more like after your first 9 months. And yes, its mandatory. Its more like a Company field trip/seminar to Welcome you to Con-Way. every employee does this.

Any more questions just ask bro.

All of the suits spend 2 days feeding you company kool-aid. You get paid for the 2 days. Then you go back home and hopefully not quit, so they don't have to spend more money on hiring somebody else.

I've never heard of anything like that, thats weird. I guess we learn something new every day. WAIT WAIT !!!
nother question here...
I assume they put u in a motel at thier expense and what about meals? 1 person per room ? Maybe they should rename Ann Arbor Jonestown? :hide: :hide:

Hahahaha!!! Jonestown, that was awesome!! What's the 10 little indians? I need a better way to remember all the steps in hooking a set, seems like I'm always going back for something.
