Federal trucking regulators plan to disqualify more than 15,000 physicians responsible for certifying that truck drivers are healthy enough to get behind the wheel.

Maybe they should start registering some, 3rd party, truck stop lot physicians to their list? Like the chiropractor in the Winnebago in the back row.

Now there will be an even bigger driver shortage when we can't find Drs who won't force us to wear the Darth Vader mask!

So are you saying they should pass you on a physical, disregarding health issues, and let you drive a truck?

It is now if you weigh over 300#
My old man got a warning wasn't close to 300. We got it under control here it had to w BMI if u hit the magic number sleep apnea test. Last year guy didn't give him 2nd look. Off his metforformin and everything now. I do think it's a bullshit regulation though

I have weighed 190 for the last 25 years, and ever since the sleep ap stuff came about, they measure my neck, and look in my throat every physical now. People I know who do use the c pap say they feel better during the day, and attribute it to sleeping better.

I don't know he was not close on the neck stuff...seems like bs to me on the weight thing but not an issue for us anymore. Seems your primary care Dr should be fine.

I have been working to improve where it is possible to do so last several years.

When I was actively trucking I was about 165 soaking wet and no fat anywhere. Throw freight heavier than I am above my head. Damn those were good days.

Fast forward to a few years ago I had turned into a mini version of my 600 pound brother and it was not good. Something about 270 or so and things were not going well starting with the BP that persisted into the 180 over 120 range spiking at 220 over god only knows what. The last one showed 235 over 165 and the nurse screamed. I told her that dont matter because doctors dont give a damn. She looked at me and said you are a dead man and what a tragic waste.

That was the seed.

Im very close to 170 again. I think that last 5 pounds is it and thats what I got. BP back below DOT Standards. However... none of that matters anymore because theres two cancers and several other problems this year. So... its a matter of paying for 6 pallbearers or 8. How much do I have when dead?

I'll hold off on that for the time being. One Surgeon offered me a 2000 dollar Genetics medical test kit promising if positive for that particular dna fault then he will treat another part of my body before that too has a chance to get surgery etc. I told him forget it. God wrote the DNA when he made all of us. Who are we to rewrite it to cheat Him.

He paled. Then began to stammer. I left the kit on his table. Ive still a ways to go yet.

I've heard the same, including my daughter.
I don't use one but never sleep more than a couple of hours each night, I'm afraid I'll miss something on TB. :lmao:
Let me clarify that statement.
I'm afraid RB will say something good about the union and I'll miss it.
Who wants to bet he will say I should never end the sentence with (it)

I don't weigh that much also don't sleep that much but has more to to do with my dogs, age probably too much caffeine. I actually don't know anyone on a machine. I guess the old man would cuz of his job. Wait I had a sup once helped him sleep . He was kind of a doosh head the size of a basketball 🏀. The mask caused a cyclops zit on side of his nose we were totally talking about thing on his nose other day...cuz we are pricks

I had a birth defect with my heart..
Never knew it until a Doctor Assistant told me she wouldn't pass me on my DOT Physical one year in my mid twenties.
I played sports and had the intense practices that sports have when a kid. I never knew I had a problem.
I've smoked since 14. Cigarettes at 18.
She caught that the rhythm was off.
Replaced a valve due to birth defect in 2010.

The DOT Physical had added more and more tests since then. Yearly physical instead of every 2 years.
It's a money racket.
A pain because this is where your paid days off go every year. Doctor appointments.

This year my insurance won't be good Teamster insurance. It has deductibles . Could bankrupt me. Too much cost with weekly cost plus deductibles.
Stupid country.

The new racketeer doctor I went to this year added that I need the blessing of not only my cardiologist this year but also she added pulmonary specialist...even though the test she did didn't show any problem.
Just because I smoke they can add the pulmonary specialist requirement and....of course they can make money so....there will be another requirement.
She walked me around the floor really fast and she was breathing heavier than me.....but I need the test to keep my job and she doesn't.

Keeping the license is becoming not worth the agrivation.
$200+ per WEEK for the insurance and $7000 deductable. It's a crime. They just don't call it that. That only covers 90% of medical bills also. Sean O'Brien and the Yellow Execs should run if they know I'm nearby. And anybody else who got this kind of deal at their new jobs should feel the same way. Both sides didn't just handle our situation like juveniles. They handled it like juvenile delinquents. There are always guys who object to everything. The adult and professional way would have been to come to the table for give and take. Not just take. And not just my way or the highway with 30,000 jobs on the line.
Basically with yearly required visits to not only the cardiologist but now the pulmonary specialist with the big deductable will pretty much me having pay for a bunch of these required tests out of my pocket. Cash.
And I'm paying for something I absolutely hate.
The stress tests and fasting suck. I hate it .
It's worse than the Third Reich. More like Stalin.

I hope they all get lots of days forced on them to do stuff on their days off.....and that it costs them alot of money and that they can't practice medicine if they don't do it . It'll serve them right.
