• Con-way Freight of Ann Arbor, Mich., saw annual workers’ compensation claims plunge 80 percent and lost work days drop 75 percent in Los Angeles after its trial of a wellness program two years ago. Now leaders of such programs are being hired at other hub offices.

We could use this here:1036316054:

The forever backwards, under-performing west already has a wellness program administered by CIGNA.

I figured running from earthquakes, mudslides and brush fires would be enough to keep you westie guys in shape.
All kidding aside. Wish they had a wellness program in the east.

Hey,,, this EAST WEST thing was to be expected,,, but dang,, like it or not,, we are all one company now. I think any of us liked being bought by fedex,, but it has happened.. Lets all try to get along... I bet the bigwigs are sitting high up in their airconditioned offices reading this and laughing... Think about it.... If us WORKERS,,, stand together, we stand a better chance of being treated fairly. (And I don't mean that U word)

Dude, you are old school. It's Army Strong, now. I digress. I , too, am very weary of this East-West ordeal. How it's done here, how it's done there. Let's just get it done. Common goal, get it done.

East/West

Actually, there probably won't be much difference between the two sides much longer.

When we were Viking, we had a computer program, old and as clunky as it was, that could tell someone everything they needed to know about a shipment on 1 screen. Now, from what I understand, you have to go to something like 20 screens to learn something about a shipment. (I'm of course not sure its 20 screens, I'm just a stupid driver.)

Everything the East does is starting to be done out here. Regardless of how stupid and backward it seems to us.

And this "snapshot" program is a freaking joke. More work for the office people, but the same amount of hours and the same amount of people. Not a lot has changed for the drivers yet, but I hear rumblings.

When you guys were AF, I'm sure you were hot snot. I know that when we were Viking, we kicked ***. Whatever it took to get it done, we did. Now, just try and find a driver that is willing to go above and beyond. They've "processed" the life out of what used to be a good place to work. Now, not so much. It's just a job, nothing special and no reason to excel.

So soon, we'll all be one big happy family plotting our escapes.

Oops

I meant to say that I use the wellness program here in the west.

It appears that they call you, listen to what your doctor has you doing, then agrees with him.

I hope you're not expecting weight rooms or showers.

In a way I was......Other companies in other industries do it.
While actual gyms at most CC's would be pretty much out of the question, an allowance or reimbursment program to help pay for gym memberships would be an idea. So much a year, say $100 with proof membership. Like buying boots. You have the choice of joining an expensive gym or a bare bones sweat shop. Either way the $100 would help.

If not interested in a gym they could include home equipment. Buy a $600 treadmill. They reimburse you $100. Next year add an exercise bike to your home gym.
Bicycles, running shoes.......All that runs into some money. A reimbusment would help pay for a home exercise program.

Have contests for weight loss. wouldn't cost the company a dime. Everybody put money in a pot. At end of chosen period of time the one with biggest weight loss gets the money. Keep a record of clothes worn during weigh ins. Boots and thermals at first weigh in and shorts and sneakers at second one would show a pretty good weight loss without actually losing a pound.

Could also have incentives for smokers to kick the habit.
