I will answer all HOS questions on this thread and if you prove me wrong I will buy you a membership to the boards.

Bring the questions and I'll bring accurate answers. Prove anything I say wrong and I'll buy you a membership.

I don't check this daily but I'll be here a couple times per week.

In no way is this legal advice but this is a way to dispel inaccurate information and get accurate HOS information out there.

There are two things I cannot answer and won't speculate on. If the 16 hour is punch or log time, and if your clear time is by KRONOS/punch or log. The other thing is whether the 16 hour applies once per week or once per log cycle. Other than that shoot and I'll answer..

I could be wrong, but i used the 16hr rule twice in one week, after having a full 48 hrs off. A 34 hr restart, gives you a fresh 70hr/8day cycle, and thats how its stated in the employee handbook. I only used it because i wanted to get home, but dont let the white shirts know this. I dont want to be held hostage at the FAC to sweep the dock when its time to go home. lol

And as for clarification on the 10hr kronos or punch time thing, Im thinking of writing ann arbor, so the safety god there can put an end to this once and for all.

I believe you are correct, the reset of 34 hours clears everything and your good to go like its a new week. But, I believe this is on the chocking block with the new hours come into affect.

I trying to think of a real good one for you, to test your knowledge.

I have a question.
Why do they get upset when you refer to them as HOS?
I mean, if that's what they are, they should embrace the term.
I have heard many songs praising HOS and bragging about how many HOS the singer has in his "posse".
I would just like some clarification on what to call them in mixed company so as not to offend.
Thank you for your insight.

Why do we even have HOS rules????Guys dont follow them anyway???

The HOS laws are clear and simple. 14 & 16 hos is punch to punch, not 14hrs. & 7min. or 16hrs. & 7min. Also breaks do not extend the HOS . Your pay sheets are documents that are kept on record and imaged and are an accurate account of a drivers hos that can be subpoenaed into a court of law. So ! Go ahead and play those punch games, just dont get into an accident involving injury and death or the company's bad side... Just saying

I'm not gonna dispute whate you're saying, but why is it clear and simple? I've actually called Md, Pa, and Va Dot on this issue and have never got an answer from them that they could back up in writing.

Clearly if you wanna be safe it's punch time, but our punch sheets are not legal documents whereas our log is. I agree punch time is safe but my opinion is log time is 100% legal. I totally get what you're saying though and I agree in principal - 7 minutes of clock time isn't worth a lawsuit.

I also asked the week vs cycle question about the 16 of all 3 states and I wasn't impressed. They really didnt seem interterested and other than the Va guy I talked to, they really didn't seem to have any clue what I was even asking. To me that's unacceptable but whatever. I never had a lot of respect for cops and their agencies but now it's less.

So help me these guys had absolutely no clue and that kinda scares me. Pa DOT always seemed fair, knowelgeable, and generally reasonable to me till I called and asked questions. My God. The field officers I've dealt with in Pennsylvania have always been very good IMO but that phone call made me cringe.

I guess if you run in Pa like I do, just ask the officers on the ground..

How many hours can a P&D driver who is not going outside of a 100 mile radius and who therefore is not required to run a log book legally operate in a day?

It's still 11 hours. Remeber. If you are over 12 hours on duty you are required to run a log.

I am trying to win a free membership here driver. If you answer the questions for Microbrew, how I am ever going to win?

Microbrew, is Highspeeds correct?

You can work as many as you want. You are only required to fill out a log if you break 12. You can still work up to 70 - you can work 97 if u want so long as you're done driving at 70..

we can drive everyday, just as long as we don't ever go over 70 in 7 days...correct?

It could be worse... You could have railroad HOS laws.

How would you like to be stuck somewhere for 72 hours straight, unable to return to work.

How many hours are you allowed to extend your drive time because of weather and what are the circumstances when that extension is allowed?
