XPO | losing customers thanks to the scorecard

So at our barn, we've seen a steady decline in freight from customers that we use to get a lot from. By a lot, I'm talking 2 full vans a day. Well I did some digging and found out 2 things;
1. Shippers have had arguments with our city dispatcher and won't use us any more.
2. Our SCM wants all of the freight back by 1700, and turns down pickups because it will affect the scorecard.
So when you're led to believe freight is slow, realize the idiots above you are actually working against you so they can show up green on the scorecard. If it wasn't for our SCM turning down freight, we'd probably be able to add at least 3 more linehaul runs a night out of our barn.
One time a customer called for a pickup, at 1700. The customer had 5sws, and was within 1 mile of the SIC. Our SCM said he wasn't going to "waste p&d hours for that" and told the dispatcher to tell them we couldn't pick it up. We have left full vans, in the city because it would be a "waste of p&d hours" to swap it out after 1700.
SMH, meanwhile the hourly guy gets 20-30 hrs a week, and dockworkers have to take CC days.
What ever happened to servicing the customer?

Hopefully our new management team will improve these horror stories that we all know... Maybe the bottom line will be the ultimate score!!!

Apparently gone by the boards SD never to return !!! I was told from our SCM when he came back from the 'operations summit 2015' in St. Louis, that Mr. Jacobs was changing the score card metrics. His vision is that they will focus primarily on a profit model and not all this other stuff that Con-way has. I guess they haven't changed them yet. Well... they'd better do it quick if they want to keep this company intact. :duh:

They are trying to keep up with my company which is doing similar stuff. Numbers over customers. Numbers over employees. It's directed by the regional VPs

I have come across a rumor that I can't verify.Maybe just maybe XPO is trying to phase out the ltl part of their portfolio. The President and top CEO of my employer has said something about Conway and it's ltl division were to be phased out and that my employer is looking to gain these customers.Just a rumor until it ever comes to fruition. If it doesn't that would be cool for you guys.So maybe that's the reason they look like they are turning customers away and such.Good Luck in whatever the future holds for you all at Conway ltl

I Wes told the same thing from my SCM he said they will getting rid of things like TU. Like a few nights ago our last out guy was coming back with one and an empty and had two head loads and was forced to work an extra hour swinging one instead of two half loads just to keep TU up.

There have been changes. Your manager has the new profit and loss statements for January. They know how much money you SC made or lost, and they are supposed to be placing more priority on that than the scorecard. They just aren't sharing the info with you, imagine that.

Oh our TM has shared our sic profit for January ID. It was a decent amount compared to last year's January loss,( which was attributable to very adverse winter weather). Having said that...there is still a sense of the old CNW ways of doing things that lingers and never quite seems to be completely eradicated at my barn.

Who knows...maybe the recent Tony Brooks video that has him raising a very ambitious bar for XPO being "the most profitable LTL" will finally kick in and we'll focus on that instead of all the former Conway things. Let's hope huh?

All that I can say to you BT about that rumor is...it's just that, and quite a wild one at that. Don't take my word for it though...just check out our CEO and President's vision for our LTL division of XPO on these video links of a recent operations summit last year. htt:// www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y41jmkr_NY4 or this one htt:// www.youtube.com/watch?d-XWuiBEX8. or this one htt:// www.youtube.com/watch?v=pgANIRtw-BO

Bottom line...I seriously doubt that our LTL is going to be 'phased out' anytime soon according to these enthusiastic speeches, unless of course they're lying to us. We just had a video played to us last week where our new president raised a very ambitious goal for us. He said that it is corporate's intention that,( and I quote) .." XPO LTL become the most profitable LTL in the industry." Soooooooooo....based on that info, I'd say that the rumors you heard about out LTL being phased out or sold is merely wild wishful thinking on our competitors' part that we would go away. Why? probably so they could grab our market share of the LTL biz. Just speculation on my part as to the actual reason why this rumor has popped.

Sorry about these links that I gave you BT. (they are bad ones). Anyway just Google - (youtube XPO operations summit 2015) and you'll get a whole bunch of video shorts of our CEO Brad Jacobs and LTL president Tony Brooks etc. Check them out.

Good post, this is ridiculous.your Tm and city dispatchers should be fired.

streamline, report losses for tax purposes, eventually sell and then report final loss for taxes.
There are terminals that say they lose money on next day freight ,go figure that one , heard the xpo/ccx priceing models are screwed up, xpo chargeing double on freight yhan what Fed ex does WTF!
