So at our barn, we've seen a steady decline in freight from customers that we use to get a lot from. By a lot, I'm talking 2 full vans a day. Well I did some digging and found out 2 things;
1. Shippers have had arguments with our city dispatcher and won't use us any more.
2. Our SCM wants all of the freight back by 1700, and turns down pickups because it will affect the scorecard.
So when you're led to believe freight is slow, realize the idiots above you are actually working against you so they can show up green on the scorecard. If it wasn't for our SCM turning down freight, we'd probably be able to add at least 3 more linehaul runs a night out of our barn.
One time a customer called for a pickup, at 1700. The customer had 5sws, and was within 1 mile of the SIC. Our SCM said he wasn't going to "waste p&d hours for that" and told the dispatcher to tell them we couldn't pick it up. We have left full vans, in the city because it would be a "waste of p&d hours" to swap it out after 1700.
SMH, meanwhile the hourly guy gets 20-30 hrs a week, and dockworkers have to take CC days.
What ever happened to servicing the customer?
