 I complained here about the old blue straps. Yesterday I used the new blue strap with the improved hook, and they got it right! Works great even in trls. with the old rings. :1036316054:

Yes, they are a huge improvement.

Now for my pet peeve once again, lets see if they can design a strap hanger!

Well even though I don't like the strap hanger, with the new straps I've yet to go on my p&d run and have a pile of those on the floor under the hanger. So they don't seem to bounce off as easily.

what type of straps are you using, I keep reading issues regarding straps, at my company we use strap for the "e-track" E-Track Tie Down Straps 2''X12' - Cam Buckle [C312SEF] - $8.99 : Ratchet Straps, Tie Down Straps, E Track Tie Downs, Moving Blankets & Pads, Cargo Straps, U.S. Cargo Control

We dont seem to have a problem.

When I worked at conway they did use the "j -hook" type of strap.

We have the new Ancra Lift-a-deck system in our trailers now which we call E-stack, but it's not like the old traditional E-track logistic bar system that has been around for years. If you look at about 3:40 in the video Ancra Lift-A-Deck (Starring Con-Way!) you will see the straps we use. The hanger they gave us is made for the silly claw hook on those straps, not for the nice handy safestack clip. Our new straps replace the claw hook with a flat J hook which is much better.

My company uses the e-track logistics bars that stay in the trailer all the time, similar to conways, but I can use any strap that is designed for e-track.

Which would you say is better, I can cube a 53' trailer pretty well with the deck bars.

The straps themselves really weren't a problem, except some fellow employees found it necessary to drive over the hooks with the forklift which would mash the fancy claw hook so that you couldn't hook it in the loops that were lower in the trailer than the lift-a-deck rails were where you could use the clip that locks into the rails. They designed a new J hook to replace the claw hook so that it could be driven over and not rendered useless.

The E-track and the lift-a-deck systems are similar, but different. The hooks made to lock into the E-track system will not work on our rails, and our special lift-a-deck hooks will not lock into an E-track rail.

Hopefully we are on the same page here.

i completely understand. I just find it interesting that conway would want to use a proprietary system instead of the industry standard, but then again, I should say I did work there so I am not surprised. (landing gear cranks on wrong side of trailer.)

Good Night

I don't see where the landing gear is on the wrong side. It may be different, but why is it wrong? Air and electrical lines, fifth wheel release, and landing gear all on the curb side. Wrong or just different?

Gas caps on the passenger side... wrong or different?

SAE and Metric hardware on an American made automobile.. wrong or different?

It makes you do a complete pre-trip...having to walk on the other side of the trailer.. :/

I came up with a way to keep the straps up off of the floor when you go down the road if they would take a 1 foot or less piece of the e track slider and put it at the back of the trailer we could use the clips and hook them into it then shorten the strap and loop it to keep it off of the floor. I talked to my TM and he liked it so when Tim came to our place I showed it to him but he told me that it would cost to much money to fix them so I guess that it will be like always falling on the floor. I also came up wit another Idea to keep the strap holder from getting rip off of the wall move the holder up on the wall along with putting the e track holder so we can reach it sounds like it would work to me but I am just a truck driver not a college person like the one that orded the new 3/4 in deck boards too heavy!!!!

I was waiting for someone to throw the company line out here...I heard the same tired line when I worked there. Any professional driver knows to do a complete pre-trip of the tractor/trailer and doesn't need a trailer configured "differently" to do so.

Every company has there good and bad points. I am happy where I am and conway drivers are happy where they are.

I am out of this thread, that for the info.

Uh, yeah, that was just a joke. I guess you didn't get it..

One thing that I have been doing is move the straps out of the hanger and hooking them into the last rail of the e track then loop the leftover through the ring to get it off of the floor. It works no more run over

The new j-hooks are much better. They fit into the tiedowns on my snowmobile trailer way better than the old hooks.

I like the new J-hooks on the straps. Now if the would just do away with the aluminum release tabs on the clips and make them out of steel then the straps would be perfect. I know on some of the straps with the claw hooks the release was steel. It would have been nice to continue with them.

And I'm willing to bet those big abloy locks do a good job of securing the trailer also..

I use the Masterlock locks they provide us over here. If my trailer is gone then its easier to track down who "borrowed" it.

Nothing has changed here with equipment except the name on the trailer.
Been like that since Road Systems built trailers for CF
