Can anyone tell me about road jobs out of Smyrna? I see they are hiring but, wasn't sure if it was a 90% dock type of deal or what. Any general information is appreciated.

I don't know for certain, but I would expect to run the Atlanta circuit of 3-4 centers. Maybe the rare kickout. Mostly dock for sure with very few miles...

Smyrna Ga is NWA, (Northwest Atlanta) You'll probably get an ATL run which is the HUB in Atlanta (Conley Ga) , Approx. 40 miles'ish. Being a new hire there may not be alot of kickouts due to the fact of a lot of those above you are looking to jump off the dock work. It's a foot in the door, don't let that discourage you.

Sorry it took me so long to respond, thank you for the responses.

So currently I work for a Chemical distrubution company that delivers our own freight, I run 70% van LTL and the rest is tankers. It's a good, stable company but, they pay and health insurance aren't the greatest. Good but, not great. I'm looking to net at least $1000 a week as my ultimate goal. Smyrna is hiring both road and city drivers, I just don't know if that is doable with either position. My company offers jobs that pay $70,000+ a year but, they're more regional, home weekends kind of deal.

Just trying to see if it is worth making the switch. My wife doesn't like me hauling 99.8% hazmat haha.

You might gross 1k a week but I don't know if you'd net that. Net pay is really quite variable based on deductions such health plan, HSA and 401k.

What he said ^^^, You'll easily net over 1k on average in city, but takehome? doubtful. Road prospects at that center don't sound promising to me.

Does your wife like your working nights for the foreseeable future?
Can you stand being the low man on a hog board?
If the answer is anything other than "Of course! Absolutely! Hell Yes!", then the road board is not for you.
