Retired Con-Way maintenance worker, Billy D. has been involved in a horrific motorcycle crash.
He is in a struggle for his life.
Bill has always put safety first, both on and off the job.
He WAS wearing his helmet.
The above link shows that the roadway construction was a CLEAR factor in his crash.
Please put Bill in your Prayers and or thoughts.
Thank you, longtimeltl.

My prayers go to him and his family as well. I personally say though that in my opinion that i77 in wv can be challenging in some the turns and mountains.

I thought the wreck happened in Virginia coming up fancy gap......and if you want a challenge, get off i-77 and head into the hills in wva.

Yes..Bill was transported to Akron General Medical Center last weekend, he is still in ICU but said to be inproving. You can keep up on his progress by going to Caring Bridge.org type in his name billydamron (one word) and see the latest updates from his wife. You con also logon and post if you like.

I sat in the traffic of that accident, saw that bike on the rollback and saw the helicopter leave the day that happened...

That day the pavement was all scrubbed up and ready to be resurfaced and as soon as I saw that I wondered if he had lost control on that surface....

Saying prayers for Billy and his family. Been in a minor bike accident myself once or twice. Hubby's bike is now sitting outside waiting on a few parts from his minor accident a few months ago. Bikes are dangerous when the roads are bad.

I visited with Bill on Mon. 11/22. Happy to report that he is improving every day!
He still has a long road to travel, but he is resigned to travelling to full recovery!
His spirits are very good. Anybody in the area can stop and see him at, Summa Select 200 E. Market St. Akron, Ohio, room 206.
Visiting hours are pretty much whenever you show up.
Please continue to keep Bill in your thoughts and prayers, Longtimeltl.

Bill is improving!

I visited Bill today and he is progressing remarkably well. He is currently at the Arbors of Fairlawn, Akron Ohio.
He is totally alert and cooperating with doctors and therapists ( if you know Bill, that in itself is a miracle! )
The Pnuemonia and other infections are all cleared up, he is not on any medication.
A handicap ramp and first floor bathroom are under construction at home. He may be home for Christmas!
A special note to the Conway people who have visited him: He grinned ear to ear as he was naming former fellow employees that stopped in! Keep it up!
If anybody would like to send him a card or letter, send me a private message and I will send you his address.
Please keep the thoughts and prayers coming on Bills behalf, he has come a very long way, but he is not out of the woods yet.

Billy Is Home!

Fellow Truckingboard Members:
Billy is doing great, and is home!
For a 65 plus OLD MAN, he is doing unbelieveably well.
He still has a long way to go...But, He is on the right track!
Keep up the Thoughts and Prayers on Billys behalf!

I do not know him, but have been watching your updates since the accident. For all intent and purpose's it appears the he is a prime example of what you would call tough. Nothing but the best for him and may his future be bright
