It's still all speculation. Sounds like most of us have been kept in the dark for the most part. But how busy does everyone think we will get? Business as usual or is business gonna boom?

I think we are going to see alot of new freight flow into our system. I mentioned in a previous post that I have noticed containers up to our dock and empty ones in our yard . I think this is going to be the busiest slow season we have ever seen.

As a city guy on the bottom half of the flex board. I sure hope you are right

You know now that I think about it I loaded two pallets last week that had red shrink wrap and said XPO on some paper on it then carrier was Conway. If I remember right it was Amazon. Might be more of that as we get closer to Christmas

By the end of the Christmas rush you should be an expert on every residential neighborhood in town! They might even start calling you Santa with those red suites and with you bringing all the Christmas packages to their houses!

I think we will lose a lot of the 3+ day freight to other channels. But that we will be swamped in next day and two day freight.

I believe we will do more business going from supplier to distributor than distributor to residence. But that both will increase.

I think the lean team is going to have saddle sores from being in a truck hours on end again. It's going to be all hands on deck.

From what I'm reading, there has been a lot of stagnation and growing resentment within the ranks. This "change" might have been a long time coming and be the best thing that could have happened to Conway employees. When things aren't going so good, sometimes a major change is the jump start that everyone needs to push the reset button. I would use this opportunity to start fresh.
Just sayin'.

I think we're going to get more freight, how much and where it goes, I have no idea. From my perspective without the big picture, I would like to see our facility being able to amp it's FAC back up like it was before all the terminal closings. We get more of our own freight earlier, creating the need to diversify start times. Right now, half of our P&D guys start at 1000 and 1030, I would like to see more earlier bids and reduction of flex times.

Mondays have always been slow for us but not yesterday. Busiest day we've seen in a long time. 13 hour day. 8 1/2 on a normal Monday. 4 new customers I picked up at and a lot of new freight from other customers. Hopefully this continues.

Hopefully some of that will come my way.

I left my barn at 08:30 this morning. Got done my route around 14:30. Was then told to come back and get a van and go out and make other pickups up north. Got done and punched out at 18:45. I'd say that was a little more busy than usual seeing how it's now after all the normal end of the month crunch. One guy who starts at 05:00, left for home the same time as me, at 19:00 hrs. Bottom line... I'd guess corporate is beginning to push more freight into our system. I hate going out on 2nd runs, but I guess I'd better get used to it, get my running shoes on, and 'giddy up'.

I'm so jealous. We need some of that.

Yeah HS when I got back to my barn around 15:00, there wasn't a tractor on the premises, nor was there a dsr to be seen. In fact I had to wait for our TM to empty the van w/ a fork truck, (Now that was a rarity if ever I saw one), that I was gonna take to go make pics w/. Then get this, our day operations guy was saddled up on a fork truck working the outbound when I got in at 18:30. I hate to say it, but things are beginning to get a little too CRAZZZZY busy for my liking. 10 hour days are plenty for me, anything more than that and I get too stressed out.

Still having them long days?

Still having them long days?
Nope, not so much anymore, cause they just trained, licensed, and put on several greenhorns here at my barn,( several more will be put on that they are currently training in several weeks). That has taken the pressure off somewhat. Plus we're just lately experiencing a drop off in business that is directly attributable to the approach of the end of the year, the typical slowing of the busy season. I don't mind though, cause 10 hours a day is plenty for me.
