Any thoughts? I have many, but not many good.

Xpo has chosen not to pay for ATA membership. Any driver wishing to compete at "state level" tdcs, will be required to use pto days to do so. There will be no mileage reimbursement. Drivers will also pay for their hotel accommodations and all meals out of their own pocket.

I have a lot I would like to say, but I will just say this; I understand that the majority of drivers don't compete in tdcs, but there are many who do. If you go just to half-ass it or kiss mgmt's ass, well, you're just dead weight. I've seen the rare exception through the years, but most go to do it better than the next guy.
I understand there is fat that needs to be trimmed, but these changes for the tdcs, gimme a break.
This may only be a drop in the bucket, as far as morale goes, but ::shit:: like this just lowers it even more. Just my piddley-ass opinion.

Their way of claiming they support it without really supporting it. For the small percentage of drivers that do qualify, it is a great reward for being safe.

Doesn't matter to me. That much money to stay in the ATA is retarded.
I don't think the company has to be a member for us to compete.
The tdc is good representation for the company.
The company's finances are very important, I get that. I'm just afraid this guy is driven by nothing BUT money, and we are truly nothing more than employee ID #'s.

You don't have to be an ATA member to compete but you will be considered a "wildcard" participant. I've been told that as a wildcard we won't be competing as XPO employees..you will be competing as yourself.

Apparently in years past, they only allowed so many wildcards from each state to compete at nationals. I've been told that rule has changed..we will see about that.

It is great representation for the company..as well as easy advertising. I'm looking forward to this years competiton!

Good luck to you.

The ATA eliminated the wildcard back in October of 2013. I went back and looked at the final results last year and they do have the company's name listed along side with the driver's.

I appreciate your passion and love for getting involved in tdcs DW. And I'm sorry for you and everybody else that takes an interest in the event now that the program is not on the company dime anymore. It really does diminish what little interest anyone might have had in getting involved because of XPO's cost cutting ax falling down hard on things that may not have been profitable to the bottom line...but surely are good for those who desire to take pride in improving and displaying their driving craft.

Personally, tdsc isn't my thing. I just show up at my barn to get in, get out and go home...that's all LTL is to me...just making a buck. But for the top brass to throw you guys under the bus...just makes this job worse than it already is. Heard that VVT won't have much of a budget for cookouts, picnics, and the like either. Not that I ever really gave a hoot about that stuff either...but just saying that things are slowly going by the wayside as he said that they would, (SYNERGIES).:101:

I could care less!:coffee1::shrug:

Oh, good. At least you do care a little bit.

Guys could always try to get on over at Fed Ex and be eligible to compete next year.

Uh huh. If you are willing to go to the bottom of the board at another LTL company during the slow season in an election year with a weak economy, just for the TDC- I might question your sanity.

I could guarantee you one thing. If my company didn't sponsor me, I damn sure wouldn't allow the company name to be used for advertising purposes either.
Nobody would ever know who I worked for.

What are the rules for your State TDC.?
Heard some States only let you compete if your company belongs to State Trucking Assoc.
What are the rules for National TDC.?
Heard anyone can go, your company does not have to be a member of the ATA.

On no. I won't be going anywhere, but if it's that important to some people, they have options. I've kinda always thought that was a big waste and it's about time they change it.

The way I understand it, you have to be a member of the your state association to go to the Nationals, but do not have to be a member of the ATA.
