FedEx Freight | Transferring to take an Extra Board spot?

On the positive side there's no dock work. On the negative side there's no dock work. Since emacmilitant is from NY he should be able to handle anything. I just hope this drop yard doesn't end up like the drop yards in Arizona. TP
 
ARN run a turn to KCY and DSM at night, and a meet at Kearney, NE during the day. The night runs are 500+ miles and days are over 600. I believe they have 12 am and 12 pm bids and 2 extra board spots.
 
I know two guys that have transferred there in the last year. One has already moved up to a bid and the other is working a lot on the xb. Days and nights.

First extra in ARN does well! We only get delayed or cancelled do to bad weather. If you have a chance for the first I would take it. I wouldn't move ten miles for the second, let alone cross country. Boss can be a ass, but who can't. Good thing is we only see him once a week. If that.

awesome Goda! that's what I wanted to hear!! putting in for it tomorrow... gotta talk to my SCM, I hope he doesn't come up with some BS on why I'm not allowed to transfer... I've only worked for FedEx for 5 months.. in the rules it says 6 months to transfer... but also says they will waive that rule for a qualified person.

Anyone else from NY participating in this convo? Just wondering if they're taking hour lunches too? Just the 1st of the year they started making us take 60 min lunches. SCM says its NY law... called dept of labor and they said no and no changes have been made since 2007, but my SCM swears by it even after being confronted. just wondering.

The hour lunch rule doesn't apply anywhere here in the Midwest, usually west coasters or NY as you mention. Common practice here is to scoot to the meet point and if there is any delay there to take it then. You don't have to take a lunch at all if you don't want to, but those who do usually take them on the return part of the relay instead of the front side.

O.k, I just have to ask, because a dumb ? is no ? at all.....but I never heard of this so called "Drop Yard" position. What're you doing in this position?.....switching boxes around according to weight when a driver leaves the set hooked for the next slip seated relay driver?

I think he is talking about a yard that has only Line haul no p & d like Mill City NV
 
Relay yard. Different nomenclature, for example a west coast person would use a forklift but an old geezer on the east coast would use a tow motor. Another example would be west coast men use congears and east coast gurleymen use dollys.
 
Don't forget trailers and pups RC. Keep an eye on those gurleymen. How would you address an east coast gear, " hello dolly"?
