Need Advice :

Just started an LTL team bid and have never tried to sleep in a moving truck. It isn't coming naturally ; I made it through week one (barely) and need advice from some who have " been this way before". I keep thinking that once I am tired it will happen; so far no good.

We have been logging on ten hour shifts to keep it simple and I don't know if there is a better way?

You might try 12 hr. shifts if they will fit your bid. If you are using energy drinks, coffee or some other stay awake stuff try to put it down 3 or 4 hrs. before you stop. Just make sure you don't crash before you stop.

You wouldn't happen to be the guy I talked with at the Matfield Green service plaza on the Kansas Turnpike last week would ya?

You might try sleeping pills (Lunesta works good for me) if they are allowed.

Trust has a lot to do with it also. I'd have to know my co-driver pretty good before I could sleep.

Comfort is another thing. Try a 4" memory foam pad or something else that would make the mattress more comfortable.

Mike

PS... Welcome aboard.

Excedrin PM 30 minutes b-4 sleep time .... anything to make the bed softer as already suggested and I liked using ear plugs as well...Good Luck:1036316054:

make sure you check with safety before taking any sleeping pills ...... over the counter or prescription .... as they could result in your being disqualified :smilie_132:

I am not a Doctor but I use A natural sleep aid called Melatonin you can find it at any drug store in the vitamin section it works well and it is NOT HABIT forming melatonin is a natural occurring substance in your body. I take 5 milligrams each day 1/2 hour before I sleep and I will sleep for 6-8 hours everyday! Couldn't do the nighttime linehaul without it. I would wake up every 2-3 hours before I started taking it was terrible now.....life is much better! its about 10-15 dollars a bottle but it will last a while!

just lay back and relax, think about sexy woman, and rub one out you whack ityou will fall asleep fast.:hysterical:

tylenol pm or nyquil, you guaranteed to wake up with a hang over and you just call in sick

That is so true! Those two products wear off very very slowly.
I switched to one pill and it lessens the hangover effect.
Another problem is that it takes too long to take effect.

I now use Advil PM for a quicker knockout and no hangover feeling. I still take one pill instead of 2. (It contains Ibuprofen)

Prior to taking any sleep aids: Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking current medications

If you google search "Trouble Sleeping",There is alot of information to be found that can help you sleep the natural way if pills are not an option for you.

I have to agree with roadwhore an ejaculation is great sleep inducer.:biglaugh: Your copilot may be a little uncomfortable. Just explain to him that he can do it too when its his turn to sleep. Not at the same you are , that would be awkward ,and clean up after himself.:biglaugh:

Just to finish this post: Have just completed third week of team bid and am sleeping great. I used all of the suggestions and found a WalMart product Called "Sleep Aid Liquidcaps", It has twice the active ingredient but without the pain killers. One 50 mg. tablet 20 min. before sleeper berth has been 100% effective.

KC Guardrail -- I did speak to you at Matfield Green ; and thanks again for the directions..Just what I needed. Hope to run into you again..

Take one of those liquid caps and one Melatonin and you will sleep great! This is the only thing that helped me.Also the 4" memory foam is the BEST investment you can make.Especially since the mattresses they supply are bottom of the line food stamp ones.Good luck!
