Out of curiosity, what's the difference between FedEx Freight & FedEx National?

I heard from another driver that FedEx has very little wiggle room to deliver their loads? He said that most of the time FedEx drivers have 11-13 hrs. to get their loads from one terminal to the next. This was stated after getting passed by one of your FedEx Critical trucks. Is this true or was someone trying to discourage him from applying?

At the oshkosh center we have drives that go Chicago or Mauston. They go to these centers work the dock a couple hours then come home. I work for fedex freight.

Are you talking FedEx National has 11-13 hours? I work for FedEx Freight, and our line guys have a given time to reach their destination and as far as I know, it's well within reach.

The guy that I was driving with claims that all FedEx drivers have very little spare time to get to their destination. Just from the information that you gave me Franklin, I'm sure that his source of information was either ill informed or they didn't want him to apply there.

Don't know where those times came from. I'm with Nat. Our run times differ according to the route some @43 mph some 48 or higher. I'm sure Freight does the same. For ex. after the bids start in a few days I will do a meet & turn 241 each way with a 5 hr. run time and 30 min. to shake hands. Not a problem.
As for differences in the end there won't be alot except Nat. has teams and the capability to move freight coast to coast in one run.

Freight is a 1-2 day or 3 day time sensative freight. National is 2-4 day lanes that are not time sensative and this is there budget division. You will get it when we want you to get it. lol

The run I am on pays 287mi each way, allowed run time on dispatch sheet is 04:52
plus 00:15 for breaks. That means I have 05:07 total time before I am officially late.
If you keep the left door shut, it can be run
in 04:30 with no problem.:1036316054:

OK JB, You know better than that. Every time I have run with you, I got passed and you ran out of radio range pretty quick.
(And yes we were going the SAME way):smilie_132:

Ok, I run Sacramento/Medford/Salem
I get 6.2 hrs to run the 315 miles to Medford.
I get whatever actual time is spent doing the drop. I get 4.6 hours to run the 229 miles with triples to Salem. I get one hour for lunch and breaks added to that. Whole thing is doable in 10.5 if you push. I think that is a lot of wiggle room.
