Of late I atleast bump the dolly tires and do a quick lookover with a flashlight..

See way to may drivers just grab a dolly from the lot and roll out..

twice Ive hooked to my back box and couldn't hook up as there were either two red or blue connectors. Thanks *******s!

So now i make it a point to check it everytime.

This is confusing... are you saying that there are two red or blue connectors? or are you meaning to say that one is missing?? I'm confused.

And if you are nipping the Bud, then just answer in the morning..

I get a bad dolly 1-2 times a week. Last night I had a dolly with a broken spring. Thank you Daytime linehaul for not doing your job. Most of us do our job, but, there are a few who dont care.

Just A thought here Your Driving the Set right not someone else and even then you wouldn't want a Fellow Driver to leave the yard with a Crappy Dolly and die On the road tonight so why have you not been checking until now is beyond me !!! you put your life at risk every nite Check your Equipment out make sure it will ride !!! the life you safe may be your own Good rule of thumb don't you think !!

exactly so, ive grabbed a dolly with two blue connectors.

I found one with a flat tire last night. Oh, by the way, I always post trip my dolly too. I've taken several to the shop for repairs.

This is a great thread for getting the word out to COVER YOUR ASS. Don't count on the guy before you to do a good post-trip and red tag faulty equipment. Check it real good before you roll out that gate because once your on the street your on the hook.

Are you talking safety or laws? If the airlines are connected right, the color really doesn't matter. I have turned with a driver who brought me a broken line (blue) and all we could scrounge up was a red one. So, I had two red connectors but it got me in instead of an expensive road call. Was it unsafe? No. Did I change the air line when I got in? Yes. By the way, if you pre trip your tractor/trailers why wouldn't someone pre trip the dolly? You can't always blame the previous person. Flat tires? I have had a dolly that I parked and no one used in the daytime and when I grabbed it that night, it had a flat. I have seen a loaded trailer just sitting in the yard and then boom, a spring broke. Same thing works with lights. Lights work fine when you bring the trailer in but then at night you have a short. Comes with wear and tear. Forklifts going in and out have been known to pinch wires. I know everyone always likes to point fingers but sometimes there are circumstances that just exist. I try not to be so quick to blame. And yes, some people just don't care and it is a wonder they get back and forth every night. in 26 years, I have seen a lot.

Pre-tripping and triple checking EVERYTHING is always a wise habit to develop. I can't count how many times I have caught something the third time around that I missed the first two times. Pulling a van is dangerous enough ,but, pulling doubles/triples is a whole different thing all together. So much more can go wrong.

It all comes back to what Daddy always said, "don't worry about what someone else is doin, do what YOU gotta do!!!!!" RIP Daddy!

:tumbleweed: I started with CWX in 1996 in Phoenix, were you out there? (Off Topic, sorry......)
As for checking dolly's, does anyone ever check the tension of the spring loaded safety latch on the pintle hook? Hmmmmmm.......? ;)

No, I wasn't in Phoenix. And no, I don't check it..but I do check the air "lock" on the pintle hook.
