Here you are making stuff up again. Where did I imply anything about union dues and insurance ? Or defend this company or it's actions ?

You have comprehension issues. On top of being full of yourself. You aren't listening. Just trying to talk over the top of everybody else. And not only is it not working. But it's making you look foolish. You are literally cutting your own legs out from under you.

OK...let's begin again. I will try to listen better. If you're not defending the company and it's actions AND if you have no issue with union dues AND if you agree that the Teamcare plan is far better than the Cigna plan we have now...why are we arguing? Maybe I don't actually understand your position on anything. Maybe I got you confused with Serene Gene.

How can I talk over anyone on a message board? Each of us has an equal opportunity to express our thoughts and respond to people who think differently. Instead of insulting me, why not try expressing an original thought and we can discuss it.

Here's my first original thought. I think the company should offer it's employees the best benefits available, especially when the cost in unaffected. Many of the men with whom I work, would save around 5K per year in just premiums alone on a family plan. If they ever had to seek medical care, they would save thousands more. Don't you think that's a good thing?

Let me be clear to you. I am on here running my mouth for entertainment and social interaction. This is not a propaganda tool for me. I don't have an agenda. I don't give one FRAK about you. Not in the least. I don't owe you anything. And you can ask whatever you want. I am not in any way obligated to answer any of it. I am intentionally and deliberately avoiding anything that will escalate conflict with you. True story.

You like to twist and manipulate things. So wrap your little head around this one..... Have you ever sucked as much dick as you wanted ? Careful how you answer. Your not the only one on the planet capable of asking stupid questions.

Did you come up with that all by yourself? Very clever.

If you're avoiding conflict with me, Why not just block me?

This is a serious discussion about a subject that will affect the lives of many hard working men for better or worse, and for their entire working lives. If you want entertainment and social interaction, try Facebook or Twitter.

The fact that you refuse to take a position of any kind speaks volumes about your character. Your only agenda seems to be discrediting me and anyone else here who is looking for a better future. You need to do better.

I have seen many rigged situations in union shops. Don't be naïve.
That may be the case in some local shops (it has not been my experience personally) but you continue to be critical of this company also and stated that things they do are not above board some of the time. Yet your ok with continuing to work here while they ::shit:: on you. Don’t you think its a little hard to understand why you argue having an contractual agreement to keep them on the straight and narrow ?

Highspeed I like you brother but your a little grumpy today. I think you like the argument better then a solution. You Idiot. :17142:

We were all very happy with the news. I don't know anyone who isn't. 34 cents is $707 a year on 40 hours. Closer to a $1000 with the OT we work. And it's guaranteed money, so long as you show up to work. Not some rigged bonus you are not ever going to see.

I AGREED with you on this. If it's permanent, that's even better. Our FOM did not use the word permanent. I just don't trust them and I can't help but think they will find a way to make this work to their advantage. They always do.

You don't seem to have any respect for anyone that doesn't do as you say, when you say or say what you tell them to say, when you tell them to say it. You don't seem to have any respect for anyone at all. You sure seem to have a high regard for yourself though. That's for sure.
Respect? You called Hollywoodz an idiot & Sucker666 stupid....And you said you had several union jobs? You had one at Coke putting soda on racks at mini marts & you were never a steward. Anyone who's been on Truckingboards a while knows this guy's history & he's been known to bend the truth....

I am well aware you don't understand other people's positions. I keep telling you that you aren't listening. Thanks for your agreement on this matter.

And you are arguing with yourself. There is nothing you can say that will convince me to support the union. Just look at what happened at UPSF. They talked about a strike and the company emptied the system and said go ahead. What power does a union have ? Or the YRC mess. Really. Not good examples of unity or solidarity, huh ?

You are being offensive. You deserve to be insulted. And you should feel as though you earned this response.

If great health care is the only reason for someone to seek employment. Then why is YRC struggling to get drivers ? They have awesome health care. What's the problem ?

If you want me to put you on ignore, I will. That's a simple request. Even easier. You can put me on ignore. It's very easy to do.

This discussion can be serious. But you have to see the entertainment value in it. I only offer my perspective. I don't tell other people what to think. Which is what you have become comfortable doing.

My position is pretty clear. Been on here for many years. You can go back in the archives. I am not new to this, I am true to this. My style and composition has not changed very much at all. I encourage everyone to find gainful employment. And in this market. That can be easily done by filling out an application. CDLs are in short supply and high demand.

You really think a contract will slow down these crooks ? Be honest.

I seem to remember some years back some pension make up funds that were promised and never payed out after the recession . So forgive me for being a little skeptical about mere promises . I’ll take a contractual agreement over a promise when dealing with a company run by convicted Felons.
Yea some of us have heard those promises from the convicted felons at the teamster too

One sure way to make me read something is telling me to skip it. I actually agreed with every word of this post when I got hired back in 2011. When I got to Miami, we had 22 of 45 tractors without A/C. 40% of the guys were on the flex board. January through March , I rarely got 40 hours and sometimes not even 30. Unsafe equipment issues were common, especially 5th wheels. I could go on.

I began with my immediate supervisor and HR guy. I calmly and logically expressed my concerns and they nodded in agreement. I went to my TM and did the same. She also nodded in agreement and told me that she was aware of some of the issues and had been trying to address them. After a few months, she called me in her office and said that she didn't want me to think she forgot about the issues we discussed but she couldn't move on them without approval from her boss. She really tried and I appreciated that. I had hope.

I took the opportunity to speak with the Regional Director at one of his rare visits to the terminal. He gave me 5 minutes and wouldn't even shake my hand after he left. I then went to the VP of Operations who was very interested in what I had to say. He was respectful and understanding and told me that they were doing everything they could to try to address these issues, but these things take time. He assured me that he would be working on these issues continuously until they were resolved.

The Regional HR Specialist told me I was lucky to have a job. You see where I'm going with this.

The thoughts you expressed in your post are logical and intelligent and were my thoughts throughout my entire life. I found that what worked for me then, somehow no longer applies. Unfortunately, I became the eternal fountain of negativity because, although people made attempts to resolve these issues, nothing ever got done. And. of course, I persisted.

These conditions went on for 3 long years without resolution. In June of 2014, Laredo certified. Evidently, they heard that Miami was attending union meetings because Miami became a regular stop for upper management personnel. No A/C tractors were slowly but methodically replaced with better ones. 15 tractors had their 5th wheels replaced. The 2.04 raise was announced. LOI's were a thing of the past. 10 new pallet jacks showed up. The percentage of guys on the flex board was reduced to 25%.

The lesson is obvious and the facts are that this company will seek the lowest level of compensation possible until the work force gets restless and threatens action. Then, they'll give .36 cents an hour to smother the fountain of negativity.

THEY WILL DO NOTHING FOR YOU...UNLESS YOU MAKE THEM DO IT...PERIOD.
And there you have it! The timeline you explained (in wonderful detail) has been the road I, and I’m sure hundreds of other current/former XPO/Conway guys, took to try to improve things at the individual barns. We get/got stonewalled and pushed aside. Finally, when enough people have HAD enough, the vote to unionize materializes. Then management, and their ‘infinite’ wisdom, does the only thing they know how to do: throw money at the ‘problem’ until it ‘goes away’.

It's a shame that us fellows in the South don't have that same opportunity.

That's a bit more respectful. Thank you. I will try to do the same.

Whatever I post is not directed at those drivers who are happy with their situation. Nor is it directed at those, like yourself, who will never change their minds. My posts are directed at the vast majority of drivers who are UNHAPPY with their situation and I'm just letting them know that there is something they can do about it. I don't take your posts personally and you should do the same with mine.

I don't think UPSF is a good example because UPSF is about 1.5% of the total revenue of that company. They had the upper hand and the union settled for the best they could get under the circumstances. How bad of a deal did they get? They make more money than we do and they have much better benefits.

YRC has been in trouble for years. Everyone involved contributed to that mess. They have a hard time getting drivers because their base salary is 20% lower than market average. Also, not a great example.

Finally, once again, you generalize that I'm being offensive and I deserve to be insulted. Can you be more specific and clarify for me? You seem to be one of only a few people who feel this way. If Up North allows us to take the gloves off, I'll be more than willing to tell you how I really feel.

How does you offering your perspective differ from me offering my perspective? Unless your opinion is somehow more valid than mine, it seems like the same thing to me. You shouldn't get so upset by it.

I don't want you to ignore me nor would I ever silence an opposing view by ignoring you.

I post facts and my opinion on those facts and I ask people to think for themselves. I provide information that people are free to use in order to make an informed decision. I ask people not to take the word of hired guns and company executives who have a huge personal, economic and vested interest on how you vote. I have no personal, economic or vested interest in any of this. I'll be retired before the first contract is signed.
